LiveAgent offers seamless migration of your Jira data through API without the need of any coding. Everything is handled through our import plugin. If you would need any help with the migration, you are welcome to reach our support at support@liveagent.com.

The Jira data migration plugin migrates into LiveAgent the following data:

  • Jira users as LiveAgent contacts
  • Jira issue labels as LiveAgent tags (optional)
  • Jira issues as LiveAgent tickets

Create your Jira API key

To be able to migrate your Jira data to LiveAgent, it is required to create a Jira classic API token. To do that, navigate to your Atlassian account management panel and navigate to the Security > API tokens section, go to the "Settings" tab, enable the "Token access" option, and add a new API token. See more details regarding Jira API keys in this Jira article.

Activate the migration plugin

In LiveAgent agent panel navigate to Configuration > System > Plugins. Find the "JIRA ServiceDesk Data Migration" plugin and click on the "Activate" button next to it.

Configure the migration plugin

After activating the plugin and refreshing your panel, click on the Configure (pencil icon) button to set up the plugin. In its configuration window, enter your Jira account URL address, Jira login username, and the API token into the belonging fields.

If you want to migrate issues only from a specific Jira project, enter the project's key into the "JIRA project key" field, otherwise issues from all projects to which you have access will be migrated. If you want to import labels attributed to Jira issues as tags and automatically attribute them also to LiveAgent tickets, activate the "Create tags from Jira labels" option. If you are using only the pre-set Jira statuses for your issues, check the "Project uses default states" as well, otherwise leave this checkbox deactivated. Click the "Save" button to initiate the migration.

As soon as you save the plugin's configuration window, a background task begins that initiates the data migration. Data is migrated in batches, creating e.g. new tickets or contacts continuously. Once all data is migrated, the background task stops and the migration is complete.
